About Us:
Advocates for Autism is owned and operated by Sally Colletti. In the future, as business increases staff will be added as necessary. Sally is a mother of a teenage son with autism. Sally has proven herself to be a strong advocate for the autism community in the Greater Binghamton, NY and Central NY area.
Sally has been President of the Central NY Autism Society, Inc. as well as Chairman of the Board since 1999. She has helped to create summer camps and social skills programs, where there were none previously, exclusively offered free to children and adults with autism. She was a voting member of the Family Support Services Council of the Broome DDSO.
She currently serves on the NY State Independent Living Council, appointed to a 3-year term by the NY State Department of Education, Board of Regents and VESID. This council creates a state plan for independent living that mandates the ADA and RSA acts of the federal government. Sally is also the 22nd district representative for A-Champ, a political action group creating better lives for those with autism, with the most accomplishment being the NY State Autism Health Insurance Bill.
Along the way, Sally has counseled hundreds of families in how to best advocate for their autistic children. Using her strong advocacy skills, as well as her strong belief in people with autism, she can help you and your family gain the most from the community resources, school districts, and the Medicaid Home and Community Based Waiver.
Being a broker for OMRDD, Sally can create a Person Centered Plan built around the dreams and abilities of a person with autism.
